Thailand: The President of the National Assembly of Thailand, Mr. Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, expressed optimism for enhanced and broadened relations between Cambodia and Thailand following the official visits of their respective Prime Ministers.

During a courtesy call on February 7, 2024, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Mr. Matha, marking a notable event in the bilateral relations of the two nations. Mr. Matha warmly welcomed the Cambodian leader's visit, applauding his recent election and the flourishing cooperation across various domains between Cambodia and Thailand.

This visit holds particular significance as it marks the first official engagement of a Prime Minister with Thailand under the leadership of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. The gesture was reciprocated by Hun Manet, who expressed gratitude for the warm reception and looked forward to Mr. Matha's future visits to Cambodia.

The discussions underscored a pivotal upgrade in the relationship from a "Partnership for Peace and Prosperity" to a "Strategic Partnership," signaling a mutual commitment to deepen cooperation in diplomacy, security, defense, trade, investment, cultural exchanges, and tourism.

With former Prime Minister Hun Sen vying for the Senate Presidency, this electoral process is anticipated to pave the way for more fruitful dialogues between the legislative leaders of both countries.
